2009 310" Wyoming Bull

2009 Idaho Speed Goat

Five days of sitting in the hot desert sweating with no wind; im not sure why i love it so much! It was my last chance for antelope before the end of the season leaves me with tag soup.

A few short hours of chewing sunflower seads and catching up on my hunting magazines, I looked up and there are 2 does and a small buck out in the flat hot desert sun approximately 300 yards out. The rut was on as each doe would try to make its way to water and the buck would herd them up again. After 2 hours of this cat and mouse game, they finally committed. It was a tough decision to shoot or not to shoot. I originally chose not to shoot but the longer they stayed at 23 yards the more crazy I became! I couldn't stand it any longer, so I drew my bow slowly without getting any attention from the antelope only 23 yards away. Upon the release, the arrow flew tru knocking the buck to the ground. He did make it to his feet but only managed a 100 yard run before expiring leaving me with another fine antelope.

Wyoming 2009 Rifle Elk

After beating the odds and drawing this Wyoming bull tag, all the homework was underway. I imediately contacted fellow hunters that had the tag previously; they were nearly as excited as i was.

I made one scouting trip down there and could tell this would be an experience of a lifetime. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area. We saw nearly 200 bulls in the weekend scouting trip. Needless to say i could hardly wait for the season to open.

The season finally came and did not dissapoint. We were looking over up to 30 bulls / day, but couldnt find that caliber of bull i wanted to harvest. On the 3rd morning of the rifle hunt i finally found a bull i was happy to hang my tag on. After playing cat and mouse in the Juniper flats for about an hour he finally made his fatal mistake. I shot the bull at 300 yards in a small meadow.

I cant thank the guys that joined me on the hunt enough. This will be one of my most memoral hunt of my lifetime.
